Dr. Tom Walsh

Andrology

The Andrology Fellowship, led by Program Director Dr. Thomas Walsh, is based at UWMC Roosevelt Men’s Health Center, UWMC Montlake Campus, and Seattle Reproductive Medicine where Fellows interact closely with 9 core faculty (Drs. Thomas Walsh, Marah Hehemann, John Amory, Jeremy Choy, Maahum Haider, Alexander Skokan, Lauren Trew, Charles Muller, Hunter Wessells) alongside UW urology residents and medical students. The 1-year program offers a split of clinical and research experience. The Fellowship is overseen and accredited by the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA).

Dr. Jonathan Harper

Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery

The Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship, led by Program Director Dr. Jonathan Harper, is based at UWMC Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Kidney Stone Clinic, UWMC Montlake and Northwest Campus where Fellows interact closely with 3 core faculty (Drs. Jonathan Harper, Mathew Sorensen, Robert Sweet) alongside other members of the department of urology, nephrology, applied physics lab, UW urology residents and medical students. The 1 or 2-year program offers a split of clinical and research experience as follows:  the one year fellowship is approximately 80% clinical and 20% research, while the 2 year fellowship consists of a year of research (with 20% clinical duties) and a clinical year which mimics the one year fellowship.  There is only one endourology fellow doing their clinical year at a time. The Fellowship is overseen and accredited by the Endourological Society.

Dr. Huner Wessells

Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgery

The Trauma and Reconstruction Fellowship, led by Program Director Dr. Hunter Wessells, is based at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, University of Washington Medical Center Montlake and Northwest Campus where Fellows interact closely with 4 core faculty (Drs. Hunter Wessells, Judith Hagedorn, Alexander Skokan, Jonathan Wingate) alongside UW urology residents and medical students. The 1-year program offers a split of clinical and research experience as follows: 80% clinical and approximately 20% effort is allocated for research. The Fellowship is overseen and accredited by the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS).

Dr. Kathleen Kieran

Pediatric Urology

The Pediatric Urology Fellowship, led by Program Director Dr. Kathleen Kieran, is based at Seattle Children’s Hospital where Fellows interact closely with 7 core faculty (Drs. Kathleen Kieran, Paul Merguerian, Margarett Shnorhavorian, Jennifer Ahn, Mark Cain, Nicolas Fernandez, and Byron Joyner) alongside UW urology residents and medical students. The 2-year program offers a split of clinical and research experience as follows: In Year 1, the fellow spends the majority of time on patient care responsibilities in the operating room, ambulatory clinic and inpatient units working with the faculty. Year 2 consists of research (80%) with some clinical responsibilities (20%). The Fellowship is overseen and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Dr. John Gore

Urologic Oncology

The SUO Urologic Oncology Fellowship, led by Program Director Dr. John Gore and Associate Program Director Dr. Sarah Psutka, is based at University of Washington Medical Center where Fellows interact closely with 7 core faculty (Drs. Gore and Psutka as well as William Ellis, Daniel Lin, Jonathan Wright, George Schade, Yaw Nyame, Atreya Dash) alongside UW urology residents and medical students. The 2-year program includes clinical and research experience as follows: the first year is a dedicated mentored research year with 80% protected time and 20% clinical time; the second year is a clinical year with cancer-specific rotations to promote deeper exposure to surgical and multidisciplinary care. The Fellowship is overseen and accredited by the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO).
