Biography
Steve Ran Zhou was born in Illinois and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He completed his undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering at the University of Southern California under the Trustee Full Tuition Merit Scholarship. He obtained his medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society as institutional co-president. He secured internal grant funding to develop computational models for characterizing prostate cancer on MRI, the results of were named Best Paper at the Engineering and Urology Society conference. He completed his residency training in urology at Stanford University, where he developed an AI model for identifying prostate cancer on micro-ultrasound and earned the Best Resident Publication. In his chief year he was given the Resident Mentorship and Teaching award.
Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife, 1-year-old daughter, and dog. He enjoys surfing and mountain biking during the summer and skiing during the winter.
