Biography
Shannon Martin, MD, MS grew up in Morgan Hill, California, and studied Human Biology at Stanford University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa while competing on the NCAA Division I Beach Volleyball team. She then completed an MS in Epidemiology and Clinical Research at Stanford before earning her MD at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine. Building upon her graduate training, Shannon went on to pursue multiple research opportunities at UCLA to investigate surgical and urologic outcomes. For her work, she was awarded the AUA Medical Student Scholarship and the Viola G Hyde Surgical Research Grant. Beyond research, Shannon enjoys teaching and mentoring, which has inspired her to pursue a career as a urologic surgeon-scientist to balance these passions with clinical care. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her husband and dog, Luna. You can usually find them all together outside at the park playing fetch or at the beach playing volleyball.
