Biography

Dr. Harper is a Professor of Urology and Adjunct Professor of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He is the Chief of Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery, and the Endourology Fellowship Program Director. He earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, completed his urology residency at Loma Linda University, and Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at UCLA.

Dr. Harper specializes in minimally invasive surgery focused on kidney disease, including kidney cancer, complex kidney stone disease, and kidney reconstruction for UPJ obstruction. His research focus centers on innovative technology for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for stone disease. He is the University of Washington Principal Investigator (PI) of the NIH Urinary Stone Disease Research Network (USDRN), www.usdrn.org. He also served as the PI of the first in human clinical trial of ultrasonic propulsion of kidney stones and is currently PI of the first in human study of Burst wave lithotripsy, a new technology to break kidney stones noninvasively.
