Overview
The GU Cancer Research Lab was founded by Professor Emeritus Robert L. Vessella, Ph.D. The prostate and bladder cancer rapid autopsy programs provide a valuable resource for identifying emerging treatment resistant phenotypes, and establishment of patient-derived xenografts, which allow for systematic evaluations of treatment targets, response, and emerging resistance. The lab is co-directed by Dr. Colm Morrissey and Dr. Eva Corey.
GU Cancers
The genitourinary tract traditionally includes the kidneys, the bladder, the tubes that collect and drain urine from the kidneys and drain it into the bladder (the ureters), the tube that drains urine from the bladder to the outside (the urethra), and specifically in men, the testicles and the prostate. Also classified as genitourinary cancers are cancers that develop on the penis or in the adrenal glands.

Eva Corey, Ph.D., Research Professor and co-Director of the GU Cancer Research Lab
Dr. Corey’s major research objective is to investigate the molecular events associated with the progression of prostate cancer and prostate cancer metastasis to bone.
Ming Lam, Ph.D., Research Associate Professor and Principal Investigator at the GU Cancer Research Lab
Dr. Lam’s research program is to uncover the biology underlying distant metastases and treatment response, and identify actionable targets for castration-resistant prostate cancer and bladder cancer.
Colm Morrissey, Ph.D., Research Associate Professor and co-Director of the GU Cancer Research Lab
Dr. Morrissey is a researcher who specializes in prostate cancer with an emphasis on metastatic disease.
