Biography

Alejandro Abello, MD, MPH was born and raised in Bucaramanga, Colombia, and earned his medical degree from Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. He completed multiple sub-internships at institutions including the Cleveland Clinic and UTHealth Houston before moving to Boston to pursue a research fellowship in neuro-urology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Abello then completed a research and quality improvement fellowship at Yale, where he also earned a Masters of Public Health with a focus on statistics and epidemiology. For his commitment to patient safety, he received Yale’s annual safety award for his work in quality improvement initiatives. He returned to Boston to complete his urology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. He was drawn to the andrology and infertility fellowship at UW for the mentorship, breadth and diversity of cases, Dr. Abello is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care in this field.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Abello is an avid runner who has completed multiple races across the country. He values spending quality time with his family and enjoys hiking and exploring the outdoors.
