Biography

Karissa Yamaguchi, MD was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Minor in Public Health at Texas A&M University where she graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the Brown Foundation-Earl Rudder Memorial Outstanding Student Award. She went on to obtain her medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism honor societies. She contributed as an author in the American Urological Association's Update Series on Hemostatic Agents and is interested in pursuing research in surgical education and socioeconomic disparities in Urologic care. Karissa was drawn to urology residency training at the University of Washington because of the supportive culture of the program and its commitment to serving the most vulnerable.

Outside of the hospital Karissa enjoys traveling, rock climbing, paddleboarding, and exploring the Seattle food and coffee scene.
