Biography
Rand Wilcox Vanden Berg, MD is a surgeon, researcher, educator, and patient advocate who specializes in urologic oncology. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at UW School of Medicine.
Dr. Wilcox Vanden Berg believes that the best care comes from a team approach, involving both the patient and other medical specialists when needed. He understands that a cancer diagnosis can be very scary and challenging. Dr. Wilcox Vanden Berg is dedicated to educating patients about their treatment options and providing the latest and most effective treatments. He ensures that each patient's values and goals are at the heart of their personalized treatment plan.
Dr. Wilcox Vanden Berg’s clinical interests include open and minimally invasive (e.g., laparoscopic and robotic) surgeries for cancers of the genitourinary tract (adrenal gland, kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, penis, and testicles) in men and women. He has a particular interest in testis cancer and complex surgeries for kidney (e.g., IVC thrombi) and bladder cancer (e.g., neobladders).
During his free time, Dr. Wilcox Vanden Berg likes cooking, baking, eating, traveling and learning new languages, hiking, and running. One day, he would like to successfully grow chili peppers and an Australian finger lime.
